For the first time in the history of the MACU Soccer program the Mustangs have registered a win as they defeated Penn State York by a final score of 8-2.
Context is especially needed when talking about such a significant accomplishment. In fact it has been 1457 days since the Mustangs first took the field on September 5th, 2015 as a club team and nearly fours years removed from that date the now fully collegiate program has come full circle with its first victory. The win snapped a 32 game losing streak for the Mustangs.
From that first game it took over a year for a player to register a goal, which was first achieved by Joshua Helms, however, goals come in bunches now as freshman Justin Jones set the single game record with 5 goals on the day, and the career goal leader, sophomore Noah Bryant added to his personal total with 3 against the Nittany Lions. Sophomore Jonathan Langley helped on the offensive end with 2 assists while freshman Will Hardin registered his first career assist.
The Mustangs return to action at the Soccer Invitational against host Penn State Mont Alto on September 1st at 1 pm with live stats provided by PSU Mont Alto Athletics. To follow the live action go to www.gomacumustangs.com.
